There are so many goodbyes to be said, and I ain't talking about college kids.
So long, Bachelor Pad. Farewell, MissAdvised. Auf wedersehen, Final Witness.
But as with lost loves, there are as many new shows coming out this Fall as there are investment bankers at Stanley's - countless.
So it's time to celebrate new beginnings, with premiere parties far from any red carpet.
Food: For a casual get together, dinner isn't necessary, but if people are coming straight from work, you may want to pick up a few pizzas to keep peoples' pleasing personalities. Plan on having TV snack favorites like popcorn, chips, salsa, hummus, and, obviously wine, for guests to munch on.
Dress: Make sure your guests know that PJs are welcome, or for the controlling hostess, required. Nobody likes to watch TV in work clothes. If you're hosting a more high-end premiere, consider providing some cheapy PJs at Old Navy that your guests can take home as a favor.
Shows: Depending on what your crew is into, try to pick something everyone will like. For music-lovers, welcome the return of The Voice. Funny valentines can swing by for Modern Family. Drama queens will obviously be waiting with baited breath for the return of Revenge. This year, I'm also looking forward to becoming addicted to Nashville and 666 Park Avenue.
Timing: Make sure folks show up at least an hour before the TiVo starts rolling, since they'll probably want to chat, eat, and have a drink before sitting down for the main event (and silence is still golden!). To DVR or not is the key question - since some groups may want to take commercial breaks for opinions and the bathroom, and others may want to fly through.
Seating: If, unlike me, you can live without overstuffed furniture, make sure to find comfy spaces with giant pillows and blankets for your guests to cozy up under while they catch every plot twist.
